Who Are Trafford Veterans?
Founded in 2015 by Royal Navy and Police veteran Claire Wright and British Army veteran Chris Squires, Trafford Veterans was created after both founders experienced the challenges many service leavers face when transitioning into civilian life. Rather than accepting that others should face those struggles alone, they set out to create a welcoming community built on understanding, support and shared experiences at TraffordVeterans.org.
Today, Trafford Veterans provide peer support, practical guidance and social activities for armed forces veterans, emergency service personnel, reservists, cadet force members and their families, throughout Trafford and the surrounding areas. Their mission is simple but incredibly powerful: ensuring nobody must face life’s challenges alone.
From a regular breakfast club and weekly craft sessions to allotment projects, community trips and outreach support, Trafford Veterans creates opportunities for people to reconnect, regain confidence and rediscover the camaraderie many miss after leaving service. Their dedicated veterans’ hub has become a welcoming place where people can seek advice, enjoy a cup of tea, volunteer, learn new skills or simply spend time with people who understand their experiences.
Many veterans don’t need support every day—but knowing there is somewhere to turn when life becomes difficult can make all the difference. Trafford Veterans work closely with other charities and organisations, helping individuals access specialist services whenever additional support is needed.
